Click on the links above to get a deeper understanding of the issues surrounding the debate over the states of Jammu and Kashmir, an area of land in northwestern India that has been a source of conflict between India (Hindu) and Pakistan (Muslims) for many years. After doing some background research respond to the following question.
Imagine you a world leader who has remained neutral (you do not favor India's position or Pakistan's) in the debate over which country (India or Pakistan) should have control of Jammu and Kashmir.
How would you attempt to resolve the conflict that exists over this area of land? Remember you should propose a solution that you think both India and Pakistan would agree to. When thinking of a solution keep in mind what both India and Pakistan want.

give them all what they want thats what i would do for there wouldnt be any fighting or anything else thats nonsense. - Justin Stewart :)
ReplyDeletei think that this is kind of like the issue going on betweenn israel and palestine. i think that maybe they shouldd just stopp fighting and stop beingg so angry, then they can actually like talk and try to resolve the issuee. maybe one country could get jammu and the other kashmir.
ReplyDeleteI say that they split the land in two (one half to India and one half to Pakistan and just stop fighting.
ReplyDeletei think that is too much fighting that theyy need to stop and sit down and talk and work out there issues. If they split the land in two they could each get part likie they did with india. also i agree with justin and julia
ReplyDeleteI would solve this by giving Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan because there muslim and Pakistan is muslim, even though India's population is bigger. Or Pakistan can pick one and India can pick one.
ReplyDeletei think the kids of each religion should meet so that when they are audults they wont fight as much... yeepp
ReplyDeleteindia and pakastan had a war in 1947 - 1949 and again in 1965 so i think that india and pakastan should just share the country and try to work sumthin out
ReplyDeleteI think that both of their leaders should have a meeting where they can talk about what they both want, and how they can make both of them happy. I think they need to start using their words instead of violence, because violence doesn't solve anything.
ReplyDeletethey should split kashmire and see if the fighting stops but it probably wont
ReplyDeleteI think that Pakistan and India to sign a treaty to share the land or find the land that they want or need
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kali and Isabelle that violence doesn't solve anything the only thing that comes out of violence is people getting hurt or dying.

I think India and Pakistan should go to the United Nations and get a world vote on who deserves the land. If that didn't work i would say they should split the equally.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Anthony and Justin because i think they should make a treaty or just give them all they want because it would save lives from and destruction of cities.
-Richie Newayno
I agree with Julia this is like the problem with Israel and Palestine and i also think that one country gets Jammu and the other gets Kashmir. I also agree with Isabelle because I think that they should down and talks and split the land in two.
ReplyDeleteI agree with matt i think it would be easier to split it 50/50. Since India is a stronger country and bigger they will probaly take it over any way so just give it to them.
ReplyDelete@annie how would that help any thing now?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Isabelle. If the land gets split in two, then they each get a little bit of what they wanted, although they're will always be people who aren't happy with it.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Justin and Julia. They should go to the United Nations and have them come to a conclusion, because it obviously hasn't been solved when it was left in India and Pakistan's own hands.
ReplyDeletei agree with Ritchie if they go to united nations and whoever deserves the land gets it then thats fare. But i don't agree with Elle i think both lands should have an equal chance of getting the land.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Richie and Isabelle because a third party should help decide on who gets what and how much land
ReplyDeleteno i dontt agree, i dont think that they should split the land 50/50 becausee then theyy will probs just fight overr how it is unfair that maybe the muslims get landd that the hindus wanted orr the other way around.
