Judaism-Period E

The purpose of this blog is two-fold. First, you must to post what you thought were the 3 most interesting things about Judaism. Secondly, you must post any questions you have pertaining to the Judaism Assessment. What questions/topics/key terms are you having trouble finding the answer to?

  1. The 3 most interesting things I learned about Judism is that the 3 main forms of Judism(Conservitive, Orthodox, Reform) is different.Because some are more strict than others. Another thing is that some of them are against Woman rabis and some are not. The last intersesting thing I learned is that Their holy book the Torah has to be read during Bart ot Barmitzvahs.

    3 topics I have trouble finding answers to on the assesment is what is the Talmud, why Jews find it important to live in isreal, and what kind of things are "top concentration points"

    questions:1.why so jews disagree that jesus was the messiah 2.what's talmud 3.what are some top concentration points 4.how is judaism both a religion and an ethnicity?

  4. Three things I found interesting: I thought that it was interesting how all 3 different branches where so different. For example, if you are an Orthodox Jew, you have to be Kosher but if you are Reformed, you don't nessecarily have to be Kosher.

    Another thing I found interesting was that they are still waiting for the messiah to come to the wailing wall. How long are they going to wait?

    The last thing I found interesting is that the church declared you a man/women at the age of 13/12. It is alot different form when we think of people as a man/women.

  6. Three interesting things that i've learned about Judaism are that a girl can have a Bat Mitzvah when they are 12 years age adn boys can have a Bar Mitzvah at age 13. Another interestung fact about judaism is that God chose Moses. anotgher thing i learned was that jews think that the Messiah will reappear at the wailling wall someday.♥

    1)Not all people keep kosher it depends on what knid of Jew you are.

    2)The wailing wall is where they believe the Messaih will return from.

    3)I thought that it was very cool that you can't mix certain meats with dairy if you want to stay kosher.

    1:jews have a great military because they have been invaded many times and after the holocaust, they vowed not to let that happen again.
    2:jews do not believe that jesus was the messiah because he was not of the line of david and he was supposed to build a third temple.
    3:jesus was bor a jew.

    Questions:
    why does the torah only contain the first five old testement of the bible and not all of them?

    3 things I found most interesting about Judaism is that there are about 14 million jews in the world. They mostly live in the United States, Israel, Russia, France, and Canada. Moses led the jews from slavery.

    1. The three branches of Judaism are Orthodox, Reformed, and Conservative.
    2. The Reformed branch has the most converts.
    3. The Torah is a Jewish holy book.

    1. I thought that the orthodox Jews were very religious and I thought that was interesting.

    2. I thought that how Jews worshiped at the Wailing Wall was interesting.

    3. I thought how some Jews keep kosher and other ways the restrict what they eat is very engaging.

    1) they survived the holocaust which was predominantly against Jews
    2)the Jews go into war regularly against the arabs
    3)the torah is their main book

    1). There are 15 million jews in the world
    2). Moses led the jews from slavery
    3). kosher is no mixing of dairy and meat, no pork or pork products, and no shell fish.

  59. Thia, I dont know if Moses and Yahweh had a covenant but i know Abraham and Yahweh made one. Yahweh said that if Abraham moved to Canaan he and all his people would be blessed. Moses was a prophet who led the Israelites from slavery and received the 10 commandments though.

    The Jews are waiting for the Messiah to come and rebuild the temple
    There are five books in the Torah
    There is a book called the Talmud the Rabbis wrote in and made comentary on the Torah
    One question:
    Does God have more then one name?
