The most interesting things i have learned in all of the religions we have studyed were...
ReplyDelete1.)Christianity: the three was mind are the reason why christians exchange gifts on Christmas and that christians put lights out on Christmas becasue it reminds them of the north star when Jesus was born.
2.)Judaism: when they have a bat/bar Mitzvah the girls usually have theirs when they are 12 and the boys have it when they are 13 and that this religion is the base of Christianity.
3.)Islam: that girls have to wear hajbs on their heads to cover up and that the holiday Ramadan is very important to them and during that period of time they have to fast during sun rise to sunset for 10 to 11 days.
Hinduism:The religion, Hinduism, began in India in the year 3,000 BC and it began when the Aryans and the Indus Valley Combined and that The Upanishads (book of knowledge) is the second Holy Book. This is a religious writing which tells about a universal spirit present on Earth.
Buddhism:Siddhartha Gautama is the founder of the religion Buddhism. Siddhartha was a wealthy Indian prince that was shielded by all of the villagers. He was also raised in the religion Hinduism and that The ultimate goal for Theravada Buddhism is to become Buddha. The ultimate goal for Mahayana Buddhism is to become Bodhisattvas. The ultimate goal for Buddhist is to become one with Buddha and to be enlightened.

Buddhism
1) There are 4 different types of Buddhists, Therevada, Mahayana, Vajrayana (Tibetan), Zen
2) The way Siddhartha Gautama was hidden from suffering in the world was what influenced him to find the superior enlightenment.
Judaism
1) There are three types of Judaism, Orthodox, Conservative, and Reformed.
2) The five things prophets were told to do were:
-They told how god wanted them to live.
-They warned people to obey God's law.
-Moral behavior.
-The rich and powerful should protect the poor and weak.
-In God's eyes, everyone is equal.
Christianity
1) John the Baptist was thought to be the Messiah until he baptized Jesus.
2) When Jesus resurrected from the dead, people didn't believe he was alive in this order:
-Mary Magdalene told people and they thought she lost her mind.
-They saw Jesus and still didn't believe it even through how he said something.
-They finally believed after the physical touching.
Islam
1) There are still many disagreements between the Israelites and the Palestinians as of today because the Israelites took Palestine away.
2) Islam is often stereotyped as terrorist even though the majority of the religion is terrorist.

2. The Golden Rule is treat others the way you want to be treated.
Judaism-
1. Most Jews practice Kosher.
2. One of the reasons why they believe Jesus isnt the Messiah because he didnt build the third temple.
Islam-
1.They believe Muhammad was the last prophet.
2.Mosques are more than a place of worship but also used as schools, community centers, and a place to feed to poor.
Hinduism-
1.Hindusim began in the Indus River Valley.
2. KNown as vegetarians because they believe that cows are sacred.

2.The ultimate goal is to reach nirvana.

1. The Koran is the Islamic holy book.

caroline i also found it interesting that woman have to wear hijabs to cover their hair,neck, face and body because in our culture it seems oppressive and discriminatory to woman but in the Muslim culture it is accepted as a way to protect women.
